Jeannie Cook Class of
1967
After graduation I attended Miami Dade Junior College for a couple
of years and in 1969 I married Dean Duncan from the Southwest class of
1966. At the time we married he was in the Air Force stationed in San
Antonio, Texas. We live there for about a year, then he completed his
four-year stint and decided military life was not for him. We moved back
to Miami. Our daughter Jessica Margaret was born in September of
1970. I worked for First Federal Savings & Loan in Miami for 7 years,
then an insurance company for about 8 months and then for Burger King
Corporation on Kendall Drive for a year and a half. We then moved to St.
Petersburg where we lived for a year and a half then moved to Houston and lived
there for 3 1/2 years. We then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where we've lived
for about fourteen years. I have been working for the American Express
Company for the last 17 years. I work on the team that handles Delta Air
Lines, Holiday Hospitality Corporation, National Car Rental, Omni Hotels, Promus
Hotels and Harrah's Hotel and Casino's. We handle them from the merchant
side of American Express business working with them on marketing programs and
overall strategic relationship. Dean works for Blockbuster Entertainment,
Inc. supervising the construction of their video stores and all their remodeling
projects. We have two beautiful grandchildren, Shelby Katherine who is 6
and Kyle Austin who is 5. They are the joy of our lives. Dean
travels quite a bit since his territory is from Atlanta south in Georgia and all
of the state of Florida.
My hobbies are reading and music. I sing in a women's gospel
ensemble called "Sweet Spirit" and enjoy the times we sing each month.
